I began my career during college working part-time for a pre-press company, learning how to color-correct CMYK images, fix font issues, outputting film and registering 4-color matchprints. It's always been important to me to know the technical aspects of being a designer. I never wanted to be "that designer," the one who turns over a print 4-color job with truetype fonts, RGB images and a couple Pantone colors.
Moving from print to web design came about through both on the job opportunities and because Dreamweaver design view sucks (at least it did). I didn't want to be the designer who designs the developer into a corner, plus I enjoy the complexity and immediacy of writing HTML and CSS. These days I am starting to hone my skills at creating motion graphics for use in online ads through both HTML with CSS and JavaScript or with Adobe Animate.
Outside of work I enjoy biking, traveling around the region to my kids swim meets and watching World Tour cycling.
